Led by partner John Ffooks, our team engaged in extensive legal work for Madagascar's Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs. The assignment was to assist in the creation of a Free Zone industrial processing area in Tamatave, Madagascar's main seaport. The Free Zone system encourages economic development by providing significant financial incentives for businesses that export at least 95% of their products.

To help create a path forward for this important project, John spearheaded:

  • Negotiating for the necessary land;
  • Representing Madagascar's government in formal discussions with its Mauritian counterpart; and
  • Drafting all the necessary contracts for the entire project.
