Hughes PognonPognon is our local Counsel in Benin since February 2014. His main areas of expertise cover commercial, banking and insurance sectors. He also possesses a thorough experience in legal proceedings. He joined the Beninese Bar in 2002 after working as a credit analyst at ECOBANK Benin. Maitre Pognon graduated from the Université of Bordeaux in France in 1998 and speaks English and French.
Roselyn has a Master’s degree in general law from the Université of Ouagadougou and a Master’s degree in tax law from the Centre de Recherche Panafricain en Management pour le Développement.
He specializes in tax law and corporate law. He has extensive experience in drafting commercial and employment agreements as well as in tax audit and analysis of fiscal risks. He speaks and writes fluent English and French. He has been working for John W Ffooks and Co since early 2016.
Honore Yana Ndzomo
Honoré has Master’s degree in private law as well as a Master’s degree in intellectual property and new technologies from the Université Yaoundé II, Soa, Cameroon. Honoré also has a DESS in tax law from the Université de Douala, Cameroon as well as an university degree in tax procedures from the Université du Maine, Le Mans, France. He was called to the Bar of Cameroon in 2001 and specialises in business law, business criminal law, commercial law, tax law, intellectual property, collection of receivables and human rights. He speaks French and has a good understanding of English.
Zoua is a lawyer specialized in company law, commercial law and telecommunications law. He essentially exercises in Chad. Zoua is extremely experienced when it comes to plead cases regardless of their nature. He advises in tax, litigation procedure and legal matters as well as with regards to investment strategy and risk management.
He is good at drafting contracts and memorandums. He also advises in OHADA business law and in CEMAC tax issues. Zoua also advised for matters relating to approaches, proceedings, private and public missions. He was an adviser and the Secretary General in charge of relations with the business world at the OHADA Club in Chad. Zoua played a major role in the regional project regarding the optical fibre in Chad, Cameroon, and the Central African Republic - He advised on matters relating to the telecommunication sector, due to his former position as Director of the Office Tchadien de Régulation des Télécommunications (OTRT).
Serge is a specialist in OHADA practice who began his legal career as a trainee lawyer in the former BICA bank in Bangui, before joining the Commercial Bank Centrafrique.
He began working for the law firm John W Ffooks & Co in 2014. He teaches banking law, commercial law, companies’ law and credit law in the Institut Supérieur Privé New-Tech Institut of Bangui. He is also the chairman of the OHADA Club, which is an NGO working for the promotion of the OHADA law in the Central African Republic. Serge has a considerable experience in all aspects of Central African law and business in the French-speaking environment, especially in the OHADA countries. He is fluent in English and in French.
Romuald Severin Mbou
Romuald is a Congolese qualified lawyer in the Republic of Congo. He graduated from the University Marien Ngouabi in Brazzaville, with a specialization in Public Law, and has graduated from the Institut Supérieur de Management of Dakar in Senegal.
He has considerable experience in all aspects of commercial law, business law, environmental law, maritime and hydrocarbons law. He also has an international level in the field of project management.
Kadima holds a bachelor’s degree of law from the Université de Lubumbashi. He speaks fluent French and has a good knowledge of English. He specializes in: Ohada law, insurance law, commercial litigations, commercial agreements law, employment and social security law, IP law, immigration law, family law and criminal law. Before becoming an attorney at the Bar of Kinshasa in 2001, he was a magistrate at the Court of Mbanza-Ngungu (1991 to 1997), a Judge at the Regional Court of Kinshasa (1997 to 1999), and a Judge at the Reigonal Court of Inongo/Bandundu (1999 to 2001).
Julien Pembelot Mbatchi
Julien holds a Master’s degree in International and comparative environmental law from the Université de Limoges in France, as well as a Master’s degree in marketing and international business from the Institut national des sciences de gestion in Gabon and a Master’s degree in private law from the Université Omar Bongo, Gabon. He speaks French, Spanish and has a good level of English. He specializes in companies law, environmental law, telecommunications law and employment law.
Kone Aimé Christophe Labilé
Aimé is a lawyer called to the Bar of Guinea and member of the Guinean Bar since 2009. He began his legal career as a trainee lawyer in a local law firm in Conakry, before joining Maitre Marcel & Destephen, Lawyers Associates (2001-2003). Subsequently he developed his career as an associate lawyer at the law practice of Me Maurice Lamey Kamano (2003-2008).
He began working for the law firm John W Ffooks & Co in 2013. He is a member of the Union Internationale des Avocats since 2004, and is a founding member as well as the Treasurer of the African Federation of Young Lawyers Union since 2009. He is also the founding member and the Administrative Secretary of the NGO Lawyers Without Borders Guinea. Aimé has a considerable experience in all aspects of Guinean law and business in the French-speaking environment, especially in the OHADA countries. He is fluent in English and in French.
Sahi Kouamé Hugues Patrick
Hugues is an Ivorian qualified legal consultant practising both in the Republic of Congo and Ivory Coast. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Tax System from the University Félix Houphouët Boigny in Ivory Coast, after obtaining a Master’s degree in Business Law at the Université Catholique de l’Afrique de l’Ouest/Unité Universitaire d’Abidjan. He speaks French and has a good working knowledge in English.
Hugues has a solid track record and a considerable experience in all aspects of commercial law, business law, as well as tax systems in both the Republic of Congo and Ivory Coast. He also has an international level in the field of risk assessment and management (risk mapping, process review, internal control framework optimization). He has been working for John W Ffooks and Co since 2016.
Salif has a doctorate in public law from the Université de Nice Sophia- Antipolis and a Masters’ degree in civil litigation from the Université de Reims. He gained considerable experience by working in a Parisian law firm and by teaching law at the University Alfred Garçon before joining the Malian bar in 2004.
Oumar Mohamed Moctar
Oumar holds a Master’s degree in private law from the Université de Nouackchott as well as an university post-graduate research degree from the Université de Tunis. He also holds an university post-graduate degree in management from the Université Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne. His master thesis relates to trade finance in Mauritania. He holds a Diploma of the center for financial economic and banking studies of the French Development Agency.
He speaks French and has a good level of English. He specializes in: business law, private international law, companies law, procurement, company incorporation and liquidation of Mauritanian companies, office representation for foreign companies, legal status regarding the entry and stay of foreigners, employment law, human resources managemen, family law, criminal law and tax law. Before becoming an attorney in 2003, he was the legal and administrative manager of the Mauritanian Agency for Public Works and Employment.
Garba Mahamane Aichatou
Aichatou is a Nigerian qualified business lawyer who trained with the Scpa Yankori Djermakoye Yankori & Autres and Care International Niger. She mastered business law from the University of Benin in 1997 and obtained her DESS in business law in 2000.
Aichatou is currently working with the law firm Manou Kimba and is also teaching law at the National School of Administration and Magistracy in Niger. As a lawyer, Aichatou has particular experience in the field of human rights, including different training and studies in relation to the international standards of human rights, the protection of human rights, the defense of vulnerable individuals, the forced labor and child labor. Aichatou published various legal articles including: “The communication for behavior change for women and the most vulnerable in the NER.051area for Care internation in Niger, “the delivery of goods under a multimodal transport to the destination of Niger and “the protection of the interests of the minor under guardianship”.
Yare has a Master’s degree in business law from the Université of Dakar. He has over 34 years of business law experience. He specializes in commercial and corporate litigation and has experience in handling complex and substantial disputes. He acts regularly on behalf of major local and international corporate clients, listed companies and state-owned companies. He is also member of the Council before the International Criminal Court, the Council before the Special Court for Lebanon, the Council before the African Court of Human and People’s Rights, he is also the Chairman of “Avocats Sans Frontières” and the Vice-President of the Senegalese League for Human Rights.
Justin Yayi Ekoé
Ekoé is our local Counsel in Togo. He is member of the Bar Association of Lomé since 2005. He is an expert in corporate law, deals with arbitration matters at the national and international levels, and acts both as arbitrator and attorney. He is the vice president of the local OHADA Club, which is an organization for the harmonization of business law in Africa. Me Ekoé obtained his Master’s degree in private law at the National University of Togo (2000), and a Master2 in tax law at the ESSF (2002).
